PD Frontline - Our Supporters and Collaborators

GP2

The Global Parkinson’s Genetics Programme (GP2) aims to genotype over 250,000 volunteers around the world to further understand the genetic architecture of Parkinson’s Disease.

GP2 is a resource program of Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP), which is managed by the Coalition for Aligning Science and implemented by the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

GP2 are funders of PD Frontline, through which we are able to genotype our cohort of over 7,000 participants.

Cure Parkinson’s

Cure Parkinson’s is a trust which is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease. They aim to find ways to slow, stop or reverse the condition.

The charity has directly funded millions of pounds of research, made scientific discoveries, and opened new avenues of research.

Cure Parkinson’s has previously funded PD Frontline to enable the day to day function of the study and the genotyping of our cohort.

Parkinson’s UK are a charity which fund research studies into Parkinson’s Disease.

They work directly with the NHS to improve services for everyone with the disease across the UK.

Their Research Support Network brings together people driven to help find a cure and better treatments for Parkinson’s.

They are currently helping to fund the ASPro-PD-led Ambroxol trial.

ASPro-PD

ASPro-PD is a phase III multi-centre randomised placebo-controlled trial. It is testing the effectiveness of Ambroxol on slowing the progression of Parkinson’s Disease.

Funding for the research has been provided by Cure Parkinson’s with Van Andel Research Institute, John Black Charitable Foundation, and Parkinson’s UK.

PD Frontline has referred participants to the trial and provided genetic sequencing for them, to help investigate whether Ambroxol acts differently in people with GBA1 mutations.

EJS ACT-PD are developing a multi-arm, multi-stage platform to accelerate our search for a cure.

Currently, there is a gap between each phase of a clinical trial, which adds delays. EJS ACT-PD are aiming to develop more efficient methods to find answers.

The project aims to genotype all participants in the trial. Participants will have samples taken at their first visit, which is then sent to PD Frontline for genetic sequencing.

Marker Diagnostics

Marker Diagnostics are a biotechnology company who are using the latest medical advances and treatments to detect, measure, and treat various conditions.

They are collaborating with PD Frontline to see if Parkinson’s Disease can be detected through different methods, including through small non-coding DNA.

Neuron23 are looking to combine data science and genetics to treat conditions with more precise medicines.

They are focusing on personalised medicine and use an innovative drug discovery model to accelerate the identification of novel molecular targets.

Neuron23 are working with PD Frontline to identify participants who may be eligible for their clinical trials.

UCL Genomics

UCL Genomics is a collaborative research facility which specialises in genetic technologies, project design, and data analysis.

They are part of the Genetics and Genomic Medicine Programme at UCL Great Ormand Street Institute of Child Health.

UCL Genomics currently provide DNA extraction services for PD Frontline as part of the genetic sequencing component of the study.

Mantal is a SaaS platform that enables academic clinical researchers to design and conduct decentralised and hybrid clinical trials over the internet. Built specifically for the academic research sector, Mantal removes the technical and logistical barriers that often limit trial reach, inclusivity, and efficiency.
Mantal’s mission is to modernise academic clinical research and make it more inclusive, efficient, and impactful. By bridging the gap between researchers and participants, the platform accelerates scientific discovery and ensures more people can take part in, and benefit from, health research.

Eurofins

Eurofins is one of the global independent market leaders in genomics and in the support of clinical studies.

Eurofins currently provide confirmatory Sanger sequencing for positive samples identified by PD Frontline as part of the genetic sequencing component of the study.

LGC Genomics are a global leader in life science tools. Their genomics branch aid genotyping services for clinical and research purposes.

LGC Genomics currently provide LRRK2 sequencing services for PD Frontline as part of the genetic sequencing component of the study.
